Punxsutawney, Pa. — Punxsutawny Phil saw his shadow on 2019's Groundhog Day, and according to tradition, this means an early spring.
A crowd of people gathered at Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to watch the groundhog emerge from his burrow.
The myth states if the groundhog sees his shadow when he comes up, we'll have six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, spring will arrive soon.
However, don't get too excited. The groundhog is usually wrong.
Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil is the most well-known, but other states celebrate with their own groundhogs, too.
