West Michigan temperatures continued to drop Wednesday leading to unsafe conditions for time outdoors.

Parts of the area could see wind chill temperatures of 40 below zero.

In these conditions, hypothermia and frostbite could set in within 10 minutes of exposure.

Doctors said some of the first signs of hypothermia include shivering, slurring speech and dizziness.

If you need to be outside, doctors recommend wearing multiple layers and keeping your entire face covered. They said to take your time and take frequent breaks indoors or in warm areas.
