Five charged in brutal Van Buren County break-in


VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Five people have been charged in connection to a brutal break-in in Van Buren County.

That break-in happened in January on 41st Street near Bloomingdale. Deputies say a man there answered a knock at this door and then a group of people barged in.

The suspects pistol whipped the man and pointed a gun at him, forcing him to open his safe before the victim says he blacked out.

On Thursday the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office announced that Spencer Marbley, Leo Cottle, Michael Bird, Jalin Beebe, and Caleb Johnson have all been charged with armed robbery, home invasion, and felony firearm.

Deputies say they stole guns and cash from the safe.

Newschannel 3 is told that the case isn’t closed yet, and more arrests could be on the way.
