OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan restaurant is celebrating a big milestone in giving back.

Feed the World Cafe, in Oshtemo Township, opened three years ago, with a goal of feeding more than just the people who walk through their doors. So far, owners told Newschannel 3 they have been successful.

"For every entree ordered, a meal is provided back to the community by the funds we then give to the food bank of south central Michigan,” said Patrick Mixis, executive chef of Feed the World Café.

The restaurant is a hybrid nonprofit and commercial business, serving up high-end dishes paired with drinks from around the world.

Over the last three years, Feed the World Café has donated about 125,000 meals to feed people here in West Michigan.

Mixis, who studied at Western Michigan University, said he has big plans for the future, as he continues to give back.

"It feels really good. It feels like we're really making a difference and I hope that we can do at least 100,000 meals every year,” said Mixis.

Feed the World Café just revamped their menu and Mixis said he would love to expand the restaurant into other cities in the future.
