Battle Creek Police have identified the man found dead in the trunk of a car and family said he is related to another man killed.

Diabulo White, 43, Battle Creek, was found with multiple bodily injuries. White was reported missing on Saturday by his mother.

Police were called to Tigers Towing shortly before 10 a.m. Monday after the owner of a Toyota Camry found a dead body in his car.

A Silent Observer tip was made that named a person of interest and police went to a home on Somerset Avenue.

Battle Creek Police Detective Sgt. Todd Elliott “While they were out there acting on this tip, checking the area out they saw the person of interest named in the tip leaving the residence. They were able to track him and he ran from them after they identified himself and they were able to locate and arrest him. A search of the area, we found a hand gun near where he was which may or may not be tied to the incident. The evidence is still being compiled at this point.”

Battle Creek Police said they found evidence inside the home.

Family said that White is related to Joseph Bowser, who was found shot in Battle Creek. No word if the crimes are connected.

CORRECTION: This article has been edited from its original post to say that Diabulo White was found with multiple bodily injuries. Although police initially believed the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head, further examination did not confirm that injury.
