Eaton Corp. employees fill food packs for West Michigan students
A West Michigan company filled thousands of food packs Friday, on a mission to feed students in the region.
Employees at the Eaton Corp. in Galesburg partnered with the United Way and the Food Bank of South Central Michigan to fill 2,000 weekend food packs. The employees are using the project as a team building challenge and competing to see which group can fill the most bags.
Each bag has nutritious and easy-to-make items.
"Throughout the weeks there are a lot of the kids in our community that go to school and are on meal assistance programs,” said Chris Ocedek, an Eaton regional field sales manager. “Well, when they leave school, unfortunately they don't have those meal assistance programs with them. So, the food bank, on a weekly basis distributes about 1,500 of these meal kits to these kids so they have food on the weekends."
The food bank will deliver the food packs to schools around West Michigan.
