Driver repeatedly crashed into fire station in Schoolcraft, causing considerable damage
SCHOOLCRAFT, Mich. —
A 59-year-old driver crashed into a fire station in Schoolcraft late Tuesday, then backed up and did it again – several times.
The driver, who is from Grand Rapids, was taken to Bronson Hospital, but Schoolcraft Police Chief Bryan Campbell said he is expected to be OK.
The Schoolcraft station of the South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority sustained quite a bit of damage, though. Two bay doors were taken out, two fire trucks suffered considerable damage, and a wall to the office was pushed into the building.
Campbell also said that investigators believe that controlled substances might have played a role in the incident.
Police are waiting for the results of blood tests taken on the driver.
No one else was injured.
