Detroit man leads police on pursuit in West Michigan

Stolen vehicle leads KDPS officers on a pursuit

After leading police officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle, a 48-year-old man from Detroit is facing felony charges, according to Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety.

Police say they were flagged down Sunday morning, just before 2 a.m., at a gas station in the 400 block of West Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo after the vehicle was stolen.

The owner tracked it down near U.S. 131 and West Main Street. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect took off and headed northbound on U-S 131.

The pursuit went into Allegan County and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department took over.

Deputies partially disabled the vehicle with spike strips, but the driver fled.

The Allegan County Sheriff’s Department soon located and arrested the driver of the stolen auto and turned him over to KDPS officers.
