CASS COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A driver is in the hospital after losing control of his moped in Cass County.

Deputies said it happened around 10:15 p.m. Friday on Walnut Road just south of Brownsville Road in Porter Township.

The driver of the moped, a 58-year-old man from Edwardsburg, lost control and flew off the road into the grass, according to deputies.

The driver was cleared through EMS at the scene, but then was later taken to the hospital for injuries.

Deputies said alcohol is considered to be a factor in the crash, and the moped driver was not wearing a helmet at the time.
