Deputies: Man tried to lure Richland boy into car using candy

RICHLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Deputies are searching for a suspect accused of trying to lure a boy into his car using candy.

It happened Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. on Meadowstone Drive in the Savannah trace Apartment Complex in Richland.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office said the man came up to a boy riding his bike, and tried to offer him some candy to get into his car. The boy ran home immediately and told his mother about what happened.

The suspect sped away in his car in an unknown direction. He was driving an older maroon four-door sedan in poor condition, with damage to one of the headlights, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies describe him as a light-skinned black man, about 30 years old, with an average build. He was balding with black hair, and a stubble beard. The man was last seen wearing an older red t-shirt and dirty jeans. The sheriff's office said he was slouched over a bit while he was standing.
