KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. - Firefighters are responded to a fully-involved house fire in Kalamazoo County early Tuesday morning.
Crews from multiple departments were called to a home on G Avenue near Sprinkle Road around 7 a.m. Tuesday. The Comstock Township Fire Department will lead the investigation into what sparked the fire.
The Comstock Fire Chief Matthew Beauchamp told our crew on scene the home was empty at the time of the fire. The family who occasionally stays there was out of town at the time.
The home was engulfed in flames when crews got on scene, spread through the basement and through two other levels. It was too dangerous to get inside, according to the fire chief.
Firefighters said everything but the front wall collapsed in and there is extensive damage. Beauchamp said that will make it difficult to determine the cause of the fire.
G Avenue is closed while crews work to put out the fire and investigate. It will likely not reopen until 10 or 11 a.m. Tuesday.
