Craft beer industry leaders in Kalamazoo for annual conference
KALAMAZOO - All things craft brew will take over Kalamazoo over the next two weeks.
More than 700 craft beer workers from all over the country are in town for their biggest trade show yet, spanning two locations.
There are 130 vendors which provide goods and services for the craft brew industry that will be set up at Wings Event Center for the trade show on Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday, the Radisson will host key note speakers, educational seminars and a beer reception.
Organizers said craft beer is big business in West Michigan and beyond, It even created more spin-off industries.
"Because of the craft beverage and the craft beer industry we've seen things like insurance providers that are now providing special packages that are geared towards these industries, banking and lending facilities. We've got Michigan mobile canning, which comes in, If you don't want to put a whole craft beer canning line in your brewery, we have a company that will come in and help you can that. The hops and barley and agricultural side of things. We have now fueled several new industries," said Dianna Stampfler, publicist for the Michigan Brewers Guild.
The trade show runs through Friday. While tickets are no longer available it does coincide with Kalamazoo Beer Week, which runs January 11-20 and has dozens of events that are open to the community.
