PLAINWELL, Mich. — The City of Plainwell celebrated 150 years of existence.
The island city marked their major milestone with an award ceremony and the Michigan Historical Society presented a plaque for the Michigan Milestone Award to honor Plainwell.
Plainwell City Manager Erik Wilson said, “We're in the mill right now that's been a big redevelopment challenge. We're hoping in the next several years we'll see this project take off. But we're excited for the future of Plainwell and the next 150 years.”
The sesquicentennial award was presented at Plainwell City Hall on Wed. Jan. 16, 2019.
The event kicked off a total of 150 hours of celebrations throughout the year to honor the history Plainwell, its culture, and its future.
