Cinderella Project in Kalamazoo helps girls feel like a princess for prom

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan business helped local girls feel like princesses for a day.

Memories Bridal and Evening Wear handed out free prom dresses that the Girl Scouts building on Saturday as part of their 11th annual Cinderella Project.

The Cinderella Project receives donated gowns and accessories and then offers them to girls who normally could not afford prom dresses, eliminating the financial burden that usually accompanies prom.

Adrienne Wissner, with Memories Bridal and Evening Wear, said, “Sometimes this is the only time a girl gets to dress up in a formal dress. This is a lifelong memory to be able to go to prom so it is a wonderful feel-good feeling to help with that.”

More than 2,600 dresses were on display and organizers said they were hoping to see at least 200 girls go home with that special dress.
