KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Chick-fil-A will be sprouting its second home in Kalamazoo County following a rezoning effort to put the illustrious chicken sandwich stop at the corner of West Main Street and North Drake Road, a senior development planner with the city of Kalamazoo said Monday.
Rob Bauckham with the city of Kalamazoo said the new location will be placed at the location of the former Sleep Doctor on the northeast corner of West Main and North Drake, but the current building will be torn down to make room for the restaurant, complete with a double lane drive-thru on the west side of the building. Bauckman said the building will have a north-south alignment alongside North Drake Road with the main entrance north of West Main Street on North Drake Road.
City staff were working to plan the parking lot and open space before the site plan will be submitted for approval, which is expected to be completed by March. Construction will take place shorty afterwards with an expected opening of June 2019.
