COMSTOCK, Mich. — Icy roads might have been to blame for a car versus train collision that left a pile of metal on the tracks about 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Occupants of the car were able to escape before the train hit the car, which was resting on the track.
Police on the scene said the driver of the car was coming down the hill, and the car, unable to stop, slid onto the train tracks.
It occurred on East Michigan Avenue, where the road jogs across the tracks.
No one was hurt. The front of the train sustained some damage.
