BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — February 2nd won't be overshadowed by Punxsutawney Phil. It is also the day Ellen Goodwill turned 111-years-old.
Goodwill grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, but made Battle Creek her home in 1949. She's now Calhoun County's oldest living African-American resident and one of the oldest people in Michigan.
Advantage Living Center in Battle Creek celebrated Goodwill's 111th birthday with cake, gifts, and company.
Goodwill used to be a model and loved dancing, but best remembers her days dancing at the Bellman Waiter Club in Battle Creek.
Goodwill said, “I like dancing. And I still dance. I don't have any secrets, I just know that at my age, a lot of people can't dance."
