Calhoun County settles lawsuit against falsely accused Marshall woman
MARSHALL, Mich. —
A Marshall woman who spent eight years in prison after her adoptive son accused her of sexual abuse is settling a lawsuit with Calhoun County.
Court documents reveal Lorinda Swain has agreed to drop a lawsuit against Calhoun County in exchange for nearly $2 million.
Swain was released from prison in 2009 after the her adoptive son recanted his claims.
Swain's lawsuit claimed Detective Guy Picketts talked to her ex-boyfriend before her trial and did not reveal the interview to her attorneys.
