Buck moon will light up the sky in July

The full moon will rise just before 9:30 p.m. EDT, reaching it's maximum illumination about 1 hour later. Look to the southeast horizon to watch it rise. (WWMT)

July's full moon is called the Buck moon because it's around this time bucks antlers are growing. Some traditions also referred to it as the Thunder moon. (WWMT){p}{/p}{p}{/p}

After a brief reprieve from wildfire smoke across the Mitten, models brought at least low concentrations of haze back into the forecast by late Friday. (WWMT)
