A boutique hotel developer has announced some upscale plans for downtown Ada, Michigan: a 24-room hotel near the Thornapple River that features a rooftop deck and a ground-flour lounge.

“This is an incredible next step in our ongoing Envision Ada Village project,” Ada Township Supervisor George Haga said in a written announcement of the project. “A boutique hotel will support a number of local business needs, while providing a quaint destination for visitors to our area parks, riverfront, and retail shopping experiences.”

The project was announced Tuesday by CityFlatsHotel, a Holland-based investment group led by Chuck Reid. Conceptual drawings will be presented to the Ada Township Planning Commission in late December. The company has targeted the start of construction in 2019.

The 37,297-square-foot hotel building will be located on River Street, not far from the Thornapple River. The room designs will include a modern d├ęcor and a variety of luxury amenities, company officials said.

Rooms and suites will be located on the second floor. At street level will be a lounge similar to the CityS?n Lounge in downtown Grand Rapids. Multiple meeting rooms and an event space that will fit up to 225 people will be on the top floor.

CityFlatsHotel in Ada will be the fourth venture by Reid’s group. His Charter House Innovations will work with Dixon Architecture of Ada and general contractor First Companies Inc. on the Ada project. Other CityFlatsHotel properties are in Holland, Grand Rapids and Port Huron.
