Bones found in independent search of Theresa Lockhart were not human
Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department said bones that were found during an independent search, conducted by volunteers, of a missing Schoolcraft teacher were not human.
The group "Help Us Find Theresa Joan Lockhart" conducted the search but are not disclosing where the search took place.
The bones were discovered on Saturday afternoon. The Portage Police Department and Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department responded and brought in a coroner.
The coroner found the bones to be deer bones. No other evidence was gathered by the independent search team or police.
Theresa Lockhart has been missing since May. Her husband, Christopher Lockhart, has been arrested four times on unrelated charges since her disappearance and remains a person of interest in the case.
