A West Michigan man died after two military vehicles crashed in Otero County, New Mexico.

KFOX reported that Cpl. Cole Wixom and another unidentified soldier in the Army 1st Armored Division were killed in a crash at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The crash involved two Interim Armored Vehicle (IAV) Strykers on U.S. Route 54. Seven other soldiers were injured in the crash.

The IAV Stryker is an eight-wheeled, hybrid, personnel carrier-infantry fighting vehicle used by the U.S. Army.

Military police investigated the incident, but have not released details about what caused the crash.

Wixom lived at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, and graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 2013. He had recently returned from a tour in Afghanistan and had just re-enlisted in the U.S. Army.
