BCPD warns businesses of circulating counterfeit $100 bills

    Officers with the Battle Creek Police Department warned local businesses Friday to be alert of circulating counterfeit $100 bills.

    Police were investigating after receiving reports of multiple incidents where a young woman, described as being in her 20s, used counterfeit $100 bills to pay for her merchandise in the Albion and Marshall areas. She was captured on surveillance video and police are working to gather tips leading to her identity and whereabouts.

    Police said the counterfeit bills pass the marker test and believe the counterfeit bills are bleached $10 bills that were reprinted to appear like $100 bills. Police recommended business owners re-educate their employees on how to identify a counterfeit bills.
