A just-released autopsy report reveals that Christopher Lockhart died by hanging.

Obtained by the Newschannel 3 I-Team, the report also states that there were no drugs nor alcohol in Lockhart’s system when he died.

Lockhart was the chief suspect in the disappearances of his wife, Theresa Lockhart, in the spring. Among the items police discovered when finding Lockhart dead in his home, was a statement confessing that he killed his wife by strangulation.

“The death of Christopher Lockhart was caused by hanging,” medical examiner Theodore Brown said in the autopsy report. “Given the circumstances, the manner of death is suicide”

After electronic tethering equipment showed that Lockhart hadn’t moved in several days, police entered his home in Portage on Oct. 24, 2017, and found him hanging by the neck in the basement. He has a rope tied in a hangman’s noose around his neck, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators found the confession note regarding his wife, which was dated Oct. 23, 2017, at 11:15 A.M. but also a number of other items. “The decedent also left multiple papers with additional information, which included a map of where his wife’s body was located, notes, instructions, checks, and business cards,” the autopsy report said.
