KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Kent County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a "suspicious situation" that occurred while a 14-year-old girl was walking to Northview High School Thursday, March 14.
At the intersection of Providence and Costa in Kent County, the teen was approached by a male in a vehicle. The female reported to police that the driver claimed to be one of her father's friends and asked if she wanted a ride to school because it was raining. The driver also asked her to come closer "because he had something to tell her."
The female called her friend, and her friend's mother called the police. She told police that the male drove away and never physically contacted her.
Police described the man as light-skinned, possibly Hispanic and overweight. The vehicle is described as a "boxy" van with a possible dent in the left rear bumper, and maroon in color.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Kent County Sheriff’s Office at 616-6326357 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
