An Amazing Miracle: Austin Geairn lives as if traumatic brain injury never happened

Seven years after Austin Geairn spent 11 -days in a drug induced coma in a desperate attempt to save him from a severe brain injury, his brush with death survives only in memory. (WWMT)

Just shy of his 21st birthday, Austin Geairn suffered a severe brain injury that doctors initially thought he'd never survive.

He was in the backseat of a car traveling 40 mph on a wooded road in Delton, Michigan, when Geairn fell out of the door.

For the next 11 days, doctors kept him in a drug-induced coma, and fought with the persistent, fluctuating swelling in his brain.

Seven years later, Austin is living a normal life.

Newschannel 3's Kate Tillotson visited with Austin's parents, retracing the days when they thought they'd never hear his voice again, to the moment their son returned to the living.
