Organizers of the Electric Forest music and camping festival have announced a new initiative designed to promoted good deeds and identify everyday heroes.

Called the Wish Machine, the initiative asks fans to help change the world by coming up with a wish that involves an act of human kindness -- and then submitting the wish, or "Forest Dream" in a contest that will bring some of the ideas to life for the 2018 festival.

"Whatever you hope will happen is fair game," festival organizers said in a written announcement on The Wish Machine. "Goodness starts as a seed. Do you have an idea for a good deed or an inspiration for an act of human kindness? ... What you choose to do is up to you."

To participate, fans must submit what they're willing to do to have their wish granted, and then what that wish will be. Among the examples quoted in the announcement is making sandwiches for the homeless every day until the festival begins, and then being on stage with a favorite headliner during Electric Forest 2018. Entries are to be submitted on The Wish Machine page on the festival website.

The Electric Forest will be hosting its eighth annual event in June 2018. For the second year, the festival will be held over two weekends, June 21-24 and June 28-July 1, on the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan. The double weekends is an expansion of the event that started in 2017 because of its popularity, organizers said.

The festival includes a lineup of live music, and adds a focus on the venue, with art displays, creatively-themed environments. An evening light show is at the heart of the event in what is called Sherwood Forest, featuring art installations, gathering spaces and light displays.
