Protestors gathered outside the home of Robert Gordon, Michigan health department director, Tuesday night, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said Dec. 16, 2020.

Gordon was appointed to lead the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, which has received backlash from Michiganders against the current epidemic order banning indoor dining.

Nessel said she believes the group outside Gordon's home Dec. 15, 2020, could be the same group of people protesting other state officials like Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

She denounced the threats during a news conference, saying she intends to prosecute.

"It really has to stop. We are investigating to the extent that we can and if we are able to identify specific individuals that are perpetrating threats, absolutely we intend to prosecute," she said.

Nessel said the attorney general's office had some ongoing investigations, but she could not disclose more information as of Dec. 16.
