SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSTM) — Babies born Dec. 31, 2020, could get a special gift from Ally Bank, a spokesperson announced.
Babies in all 50 states, as well as babies in military families serving abroad, are eligible for a free savings account funded with $250 to start.
Parents can sign up here within six months of their baby's birth. Verification of the child's birth date is required. Once the account information is finalized, Ally will fund it with $250.
The bank said it wants to welcome the new babies with a message of optimism.
"Ally Bank will be celebrating the end of the year in a different way: by shining a light on the countless reasons we had for hope," a statement from the bank read. "Particularly for all those born on the very last day of a year that has challenged our world like no other, and who were likely conceived at the very start of the pandemic."
The bank said it made the offer to usher in the "new digital era" where much of life has shifted online. Ally is a digital-only bank and has no physical locations.
