WASHINGTON (SBG) - Some of country music's biggest artists will soon take the stage to help those in need this holiday season.
Sinclair Broadcast Group is teaming up with Sony Music Nashville and The Salvation Army for a "Rock the Red Kettle" concert on Wednesday, Dec. 16, to air on STIRR at 8p ET/ 7p CT.
The hour-long music special will help The Salvation Army make up for an expected reduction of in-person giving this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year's red kettles raised $126 million, but with COVID-19, The Salvation Army is worried they won't be able to provide needed services to the most vulnerable this year.
Regardless of the amount, The Salvation Army is adopting nationally mandated safety protocols to ensure the safety of all bell ringers, donors, and partners.
The iconic donation bins have been a staple of The Salvation Army since 1891, when Captain Joseph McFee committed to providing 1,000 of San Francisco's poorest residents with Christmas dinner.
