Two days after the body of 28-year-old Amber Marie Walker was discovered at East Lake in Richland Township, the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor's Office authorized charges against a suspect in the homicide investigation.

Chad Michael White was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in connection to the death of Walker. The 24-year-old, who resides in the Kalamazoo area, had his bond denied by the judge, Richard Santoni, for "many reasons".

"I do realize I have the discretion, based on circumstance, which in this case include assaults on other individuals and the seriousness of murder, based on that bond is denied at this time," said Santoni.

On Tuesday, investigators said they had taken a person of interest into custody hours after Walker's body was found Monday afternoon, but said that person was being held on outstanding warrants.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office went on to say the death investigation was suspicious, and said it was confident it was a homicide on Tuesday.

"Detectives treated it as a suspicious death, pending results from the medical examiners office on the cause and manner of the death, which we suspect will be a homicide," Undersheriff James VanDyken said on Tuesday.

On Monday, deputies, members of the Richland Township Fire Department and water rescuers responded to the woman's body, which was discovered in East Lake of Three Lakes off North 35th Street.
