Portage schools hope to set attendance record at 10th annual hockey classic

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - On Monday night at Wings Stadium, Portage Central and Portage Northern will face off on the ice in the tenth anniversary of their annual Hockey Classic, with a stated mission of setting a Michigan high school hockey attendance record.

The Portage Rotary held a news conference Wednesday to lay out their plans.

There is no current official record, so the goal is 3,000-plus.

Tickets for the event are $5. The Portage Rotary is the sponsor, and money raised goes to build its scholarship fund.

Faceoff is set for 6:30.
