Stewart picked for 'NASCAR '14' video game cover

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Tony Stewart smoked the field in a fan vote and will grace the cover of the "NASCAR '14" video game.

Stewart's fan base seemed to rally around the injured driver, who missed the final months of the season after breaking his right leg in an Aug. 5 sprint car crash.

Stewart, the three-time Sprint Cup champion, took 69 percent of the vote in the final round to defeat Jeff Gordon. During the five-week contest conducted on Facebook, Stewart dominated each round of the competition. He won nearly one-fifth of the more than 700,000 votes.

He has appeared on the cover twice before, but this is the first time he was selected by fans.

"NASCAR '14" is scheduled for release in early 2014 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
