Bill would require scholarships to go four years for athletes
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There's new legislation in Congress aimed at protecting college athletes who play collision sports such as football.
It would require NCAA schools to guarantee four-year scholarships to those athletes, even if they're injured or don't perform well on the field.
The bill would also require annual baseline concussion testing.
Supporters say it will help improve health and education of student-athletes and require more transparency from the NCAA.
