Scammers using scare tactics on electric customers

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Scammers apppear to be using scare tactics in an effort to fool local electric customers.

Recently, a person received a call from a person claiming to be from Great Lakes Energy "Discount" Department.

The caller had an accent and threatened to shut off the person's electric service if the account was not paid within 45 minutes.

Great Lakes Energy says if you get a similar call from someone who pressures you for payment or personal information, hang up immediately, and report it to the company.
