Plainwell man recovering after falling in water in Lake Michigan

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Plainwell man is recovering after spending nearly an hour in the cold Lake Michigan water Friday.

The man had fallen out of his fishing boat that afternoon, and a crew working on shore heard him calling for help.

While emergency boats were on their way, a private fishing boat responded and pulled the man out of the water.

He was taken to the hospital, where he's being treated for hypothermia.

Emergency crews say the temperature in Lake Michigan right now is 39 degrees.
