Holland business owner arraigned after death of employee

HOLLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The owner of a Holland construction company has been charged in connection with the death of one of his employees.

38-year-old Brian Tarachanowicz was killed in July of 2012 while working for Black River Builders.

Wednesday, the company's owner, Joe Novak, was charged with a Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration violation, causing employee death.

Tarachanowicz died after falling through a weak spot on a roof in Sparta.

Novak is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in June.

If convicted, he faces one year in prison.
