Slain basketball player was not intended target

MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Investigators say a 17-year-old high school basketball player shot to death while walking to a team banquet was not the intended target.

Chief Assistant Muskegon County Prosecutor Timothy Maat says the investigation reveals Marquis Gresham was "standing in the wrong place, at the wrong time."

Gresham was shot in the chest last month during a drive-by shooting in Muskegon Heights.

On Monday, 19-year-old Ryheim Beasley was arraigned on an open murder charge.
