Amazon launches new grocery service

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Amazon is turning up the heat on grocery stores.

It's launching a service called Prime Pantry which lets loyalty club members fill up a 45-pound box with groceries to be shipped to their homes.

The service costs $5.99 plus the cost of items and will take up to four business days for shipping.

Users can shop an expanded selection of items that they usually pick up in grocery stores.

Amazon is beefing up services for prime members since raising the membership from $75 to $99 to help offset rising shipping costs.
