Bronson surgeons volunteer to help rare monkey at Binder Park Zoo

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A rare monkey living at Binder Park Zoo is getting help from some unexpected places.

Kanzu is a red-capped mangabey monkey who needed surgery to repair a broken leg.

The zoo reached out to Bronson Healthcare for help and two of their orthopedic surgeons volunteered their expertise.

They fixed the broken femur with a metal plate and screws, so Kanzu could get back to her normal self.

Surgery wrapped up Tuesday, and we're told little Kanzu did very well, but will be closely monitored during recovery.
