Interview: Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Autism Society events

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder largely found in children.

Just last week, a report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found a startling 30 percent jump among 8-year-olds diagnosed with autism in a 2-year period--to 1 in every 68 children.

That's a marked increase from the previously accepted rate of 1 in 88.

Wednesday is a day where around the world, people everywhere will raise awareness about the disorder.

Joining us in the studio to tell us more about events in Kalamazoo County is Melody Janetzke, a board member for the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Autism Society.
