Community leader accused of attempted arson now facing tax trouble

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Kalamazoo community leader accused of attempted arson is now in deep trouble with taxes.

Back in February, Lola Atkinson, an NAACP Vice President and Kalamazoo landlord was arrested on attempted arson charges.

Police say they caught Atkinson and her handyman Elvis Patterson plotting to burn down a house that she owned on Kalamazoo's north side.

Newschannel 3's Aaron Dimick joined us outside the Kalamazoo County Treasurer's Office with more on the story.
