Hundreds line up in Wyoming looking for low-income housing

WYOMING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Hundreds of people lined up early Monday morning for a chance at landing an affordable place to live.

The Wyoming Housing Commission owns 195 public housing units, and rent for those apartments is based on income.

Wyoming also distributes Section 8 vouchers for Kent County and part of Ottawa County.

The city opened its housing voucher waiting list at 8:00 a.m. Monday, and it seems demand is high.

Hundreds lined up at the housing commission to apply.

The Wyoming Housing Commission will continue to take voucher applications until April 3.
