Muskegon man charged in robbery at Norton Shores Meijer

MUSKEGON, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A 45-year-old Muskegon man is facing charges after officers say he tried to steal a woman's purse in a grocery store parking lot.

Police say last Thursday, 44-year-old Arthur Sheard drove up to a woman's shopping cart while she was loading groceries at the Meijer on West Norton, in Norton Shores.

Surveillance video caught Sheard grabbing the woman's purse from her cart, and as the woman latched on, Sheard drove off.

Police say the woman was dragged by Sheard's car, and she suffered serious head injuries.

He is now charged with unarmed robbery.
