WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Ski-a-thon raises money for Talons Out

GOBLES, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The slopes at Timber Ridge were busy early Saturday morning.

About 60 skiers took part in an overnight ski-a-thon to raise money for the Talons Out Honor Flight.

Skiers were on the slopes from 10 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday. Talons Out will use the money collected to send World War II veterans to Washington D.C. for a tour of the nation's capital.

"When you see the vets, and you see how appreciative they are among the memorial and you see complete strangers come up and want to interview them and want to get pictures with them, and they want to thank them, it's a great experience," says Talons Out Second Vice President Paul Carlson.

Three veterans from West Michigan will be able to go on the next honor flight because of the fundraiser. The next flight is set for May 31.
