8 arrested and Kalamazoo home condemned in meth bust

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - 8 People in Kalamazoo have been arrested following a two day investigation.

Officers from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (K.V.E.T), a part of the Community Outreach and Problem Solving Division, (C.O.P.S.) conducted an investigation in the 3900 block of S. Burdick after receiving numerous tips regarding possible methamphetamine being produced.

On March 5th, officers conducted surveillance and stopped a vehicle that had left the home.

A release states 3 of the vehicle's occupants were arrested on warrants as well as on new charges after meth, marijuana, and a large quantity of pseudoephedrine pills were located on several subjects.

The following day, a search warrant was conducted at the home in the 3900 block of South Burdick.

Officers say there was a strong chemical and heavy haze in the home.

Five subjects were arrested inside, including one of the same subjects that had been arrested the night before.

Investigators say the primary suspect was found during a second search of the building hiding behind a dishwasher where he had wedged himself between the studs of a wall.

A total of six people were arrested from the home with charges ranging from out-standing arrest warrants to operating and maintaining a meth lab, possession of meth and frequenting a drug house.

As a result of this investigation, eight Kalamazoo residents were arrested on over 25 charges with the home in the 3900 block of S Burdick being condemned.
