Enbridge approved to move forward with Ceresco Dam project

CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Enbridge can now move forward with the removal of the Ceresco Dam in Calhoun County.

On Friday, the Department of Environmental Quality announced it has issued the final permit the company needed.

Enbridge bought the dam and is tearing part of it down as part of the clean-up process from the massive oil spill in the Kalamazoo River.

The DEQ says the Ceresco River restoration project will have significant benefits for the Kalamazoo River, including improving fishing and removing hazards of the dam.
