Kalamazoo man pleads guilty to multiple felonies in assault

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Kalamazoo man pleaded guilty on Tuesday on three felony charges after an assault on a Western Michigan University student from late September.

22-year-old Stephen Romero entered a guilty plea in court on charges of home invasion, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Police say Romero broke into a house on Locust Street on September 28 of last year, and beat the victim with a baseball bat.

Sources told Newschannel 3 after the attack that the incident stemmed from a confrontation at a tailgating party.

Romero is scheduled to be sentenced on March 31.
