Police chase leads to crash

MARSHALL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A police chase in Marshall ended in a crash Tuesday morning.

The chase started on westbound I-94 near 26 Mile Road in Sheridan Township.

Officers say they reached speeds of 125 miles per hour trying to catch up to the vehicle.

More police joined the chase and the suspect passed several vehicles through no passing zones. Officers say he tried to ram an MSP K9 unit, but the cruiser was able to get out of the way.

The suspect got off I-94 and onto Old 27. The chase ended when the car crashed into an M-DOT pickup truck at Old 27 and F Drive North.

The driver of the M-DOT vehicle and the passenger inside were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police say that the 24-year-old suspect from Kalamazoo had a warrant for his arrest from the Kalamazoo area for fraud and other offenses. He was arrested and is facing several new charges related to the chase.
