Updated: Man sentenced on weapons charges related to shooting rampage

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Grand Rapids man who pleaded guilty to knowingly giving a gun to a convicted felon was sentenced in a Kalamazoo federal court Monday.

Police say Michael Allen gave Rodrick Dantzler a semi-automatic pistol just months before Danztler went on a killing spree in the summer of 2011.

Monday a judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

Dantzler killed seven people, including his estranged wife and their daughter.

Allen is asking the judge for a quote - "fair sentence."

"Michael Allen put a firearm into the hands of a violent criminal," said ATF Special Agent in Charge Steven Bogdalek. "Although the defendant didnt shoot any of victims killed by Roderick Dantzler, he willingly provided the handgun that was used to commit heinous acts of violence."
